My journey with macro counting, and how it changed my relationship with food.

Hey there, beautiful human. I’m Julie, an online lifestyle coach who took control of my diet through macro counting, and I want to teach you how I achieved and kept my dream body for years without yo-yo-ing from diet to diet.

It may sound silly, but let me explain. I was literally in your footsteps a few years ago, and I get what you’re feeling right now. Here’s the warning – I am about to get real with you.

I didn’t always restrict food trying to get skinny, from my jeans fitting too tightly to falling off my strict meal plan. Then proceed to go all-out binging every weekend with anything I could get my hands on (i.e., couldn’t stop eating after a “cheat” meal) to spending hours on Pinterest trying to find a new diet.

Maybe all of that had something to do with why I used to look like this!

I’ve come a long way since I wished I could look more of a “fitness influencer” I saw on Instagram, tried a new diet or meal plan every few weeks, and avoided social life with loved ones because I was scared of food.

I also had zero confidence in a bathing suit, felt sick and tired of being sick and tired (how do I get out of this vicious cycle?), and hated what I saw in the mirror each morning (by picking on every flaw I could “find” on my body).

I remember one night, I was sitting on the floor of my apartment in my bedroom, binging on a jar of peanut butter with my finger after turning down a girls’ night out at the wine bar.

I had an epiphany! I realized that my diet didn’t care if I was miserable. It also didn’t care if I hated it. And it surely didn’t know I was obsessing about it.

It wasn’t me who was failing; it was my diet that was failing me!

It was a simple yet profound mindset shift that impacted my whole life.

Talk about an ah-ha moment that hit me smack dab in the face!

Just the day before, I heard about this thing called “macro counting.” But I didn’t get a chance to look into it because I was deep into my dieting habits. I wouldn’t allow myself to try something entirely different.

The next morning, I couldn’t stop thinking about what happened to me from last night. So I decided to swallow my pride and start googling “macro counting.”

After several hours of researching, I knew macro counting was the solution I had been looking for all along!

I quickly learned all foods turn into calories for energy, in turn, separating into three macros consisting of protein, carbohydrates, and fat. It means whether I chose to count my macros actively or not, I was always eating them.

I was desperate for a “permanent” solution that was healthy and sustainable. After learning about macros, I knew it was what I was searching for.

Sure, I had a couple of questions like…

  • Will macro counting work for me?

  • Can I eat whatever food I want?

  • Will I get the results I’m looking for?

  • What are the macro ratios that are right for my body?

I decided to hire one of the well-known coaches to answer these questions and ensure I succeed. After working with him, that taught me everything I needed to know about macro counting – I started to see real results and finally had a sense of purpose in building the dream body I wanted.

It inspired me to become a bikini competitor, and within a year of competing – I have already gained the professional status of winning my WBFF Bikini Pro card.

And I accomplished all of it by eating the foods I loved until the day I walked on the stage!

No, though, it is me eating a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and a chocolate rice cake topped with whipped cream in the backstage, lol! Even better, I didn’t have to spend hours at the gym “working off” food I ate.

Ever since I decided to step down from the stage, I still can maintain my dream body and never felt more confident around food, stronger in my body than I do today, and socializing with my loved ones!
