Okay. So let's dive into the three tips to help you quit overindulging. Number one, I want you to think about how overindulging will make you feel. Now, it's easier said than done, but I think that it's really important that we kind of ask these questions ahead of time and get these questions in our mind so that the next time we are maybe tempted to overindulge, or we find ourselves starting to overindulge, we can stop and ask ourselves these questions. Is this overindulging going to make me feel more energized? Is it going to make me feel more confident? Is it going to make me feel stronger or healthier? Or is it bringing me closer towards my goals?

Is it going to make me feel better in my body? Or is it going to make me feel guilty, sluggish, tired, or unmotivated? Again, it's so important to remind yourself of these things because I think in the moment, we don't think about it. We don't think about the lasting results that it can have because we're so focused on what it's giving us right now, which kind of brings me to point number two, which is asking yourself what's more important, temporary pleasure or lasting happiness? I think oftentimes we have a tendency to prioritize our temporary pleasures over our ultimate goals. So you need to ask yourself, what is actually more important?

Think about yourself in one month, six months, one year, where do you want to be and what does the decision that you're making right now or that you're going to make of overindulging, how does that impact where you want to be? Sure sometimes you're going to put those temporary pleasures first. We are human. We've got to live our lives, but I think it's important that you look at the overall consistent actions that you take. Make sure that you're not always putting these temporary pleasures first and instead you're looking at, okay, what choices can I make that are going to align with the goals that I have that are going to create lasting happiness?

And number three, eat balanced meals. I've talked about this so many times in the podcast, you guys, it is so important to honor your body with nourishing it with what it needs. I know speaking from experience when I did not nourish my body properly, my body was screaming at me and that's when I was triggered to overindulge because my body was not being fed what it needed. It wasn't being fed the proper amount of protein, carbs, fats, and fiber. And so as a result, I kept telling myself like, "Oh, I deserve it because I was withholding myself from food all week long." So on the weekends, I would just go buck wild.

I'm not even joking, but I'm telling you speaking from experience, when you eat a balanced meal and when you eat balanced meals consistently, you will see that your body no longer is triggered to these overindulgent moments often. I want to challenge you to try this, try eating balanced meals for a week straight and see what your body does. See how your body responds to it. Which kind of brings me to my last and bonus tip, which is counting your macros. You know that I'm a huge advocate for macro counting. I view it as a tool and opportunity for you to honor your body with the foods that your body needs specifically. So macro counting is so great when it comes to reducing your urge to overindulge for two reasons.

For number one, you can easily see if the meals that you're having are balanced or not. I remember prior to macro counting or learning how to properly fuel my body, I had no idea what a balanced meal even looked like because the definition of a balanced meal to one person is totally different to another person. But when you are basing your balanced meal on your body, your goals, where you're at, it's completely customized to you. And number two, you become aware of how much you're eating or how much you're not eating. In my case, prior to counting macros, I was restricting myself so much that I didn't even realize, oh my gosh, my body needs more protein. My body needs more carbs and more fats in order for me to reach my goals.

It sounds like an oxymoron, it sounds like it wouldn't work, but I'm telling you, our bodies need to eat in order to see results. And also when you're tracking your food intake, you likely won't overindulge because you are satisfied with the amount of food that you're eating because it's custom to you, your goals and your body. If you want to learn more about macro counting, I actually have a completely free ebook. It's 39 plus pages. Inside there, I give you everything that you need to know, plus I share a little bit of my story, how macro counting has impacted me. And I also share with you how you can start accurately calculating your macros.

I know that it can be a very confusing topic. There's conflicting information. It can feel overwhelming just typing into Google or going onto Pinterest.
