Hello and welcome back to another bonus episode, the last bonus episode of 2022. And we are going to talk about the one reason why you didn't reach your fitness goals this year.

I don't want you to be too hard on yourself. It is what it is. Instead of beating yourself up, though, I want to use that energy to be more productive to figure out why you didn't reach your goals this year. So that is why we are going to tackle in this bonus episode. Before we dive in though, I had to share this review. It comes from Britt, the mom. She gave a five star review and said, "Long distance bestie, have you ever had a bestie that you've never met in person? That's Julie for me. She's my sister from another Mr. who whispers, encouragement, tips, tricks and all the real talk. She gives you the tough along with the inspiration to self motivate. She's been my go to for years about all things body confidence, self-improvement and health. Her episodes are straight to the point, and she provides actionable steps for making sustainable changes in your life. Thank you, Julie, for being so in touch with your audience and what it needs and for being the bestie from afar."

Oh my gosh. I love you so much girl. You are so awesome. Thank you so much for leaving this reading interview. If you haven't already left a rating interview, I would love to hear your thoughts on how this podcast has helped you this year. This is my one ask as we go into the New Year. If you could leave a rating interview, it would bless me so incredibly much and just know that it helps our team out. Know how to further create content for you, as well as helps other people who stumble upon the podcast, whether they were referred to it by a friend or on the recommended page. And they look to the reviews to see if it's something that they would enjoy and tune into. So thank you in advance for doing it. I really appreciate you taking time out of your day to do it.

Okay, so are you ready to find out the real reason why you didn't reach out reach your goals this year? For the majority, the reason is you knew what you wanted to accomplish, but you failed to create a realistic plan that you could stick to long term. Like you knew you wanted to accomplish X, Y, and Z, but you maybe didn't educate yourself on how to actually do it successfully. Or maybe you didn't take the time out of your day or the month to make a plan of action on how to execute it successfully.

Failing to plan equals planning to fail.

We can't just say I want to do this or I want to do that. Saying out loud, it doesn't matter. What matters is figuring out how to actually accomplish it and then take the necessary steps that you need to take to get there. We can't just say, okay, 2023 is the year that I want to lose weight or 23 is the year that I want to get financially maybe debt free or I want to buy a house. So I want to achieve X, Y, and Z in my personal or professional goals, like whatever it is. Without a plan of action though, how are you actually going to expect to reach your goals?

You have to be strategic. You have to have a goal, and then you need to break it down and figure out what exactly needs to be done in order to reach that goal. Right. So if you want to reach that monthly goal, you have to say, like, what am I going to do each year? What am I going to do each day or each week to ensure that you're reaching that monthly goal?

And when you do this, I want you to write down the most important things that need to be done that day or that week. Right. I want you to plan it out. I know for my type A people, you're like, yes, I love a good planner. I love writing everything down for those type B people. I'm one of those people. Trust me, I am a type B person to my core. But I have forced myself to become a Type A person when it comes to my goals, because I know that I can't just wing it. I can't just fly by the seat of my pants and hope that it all turns out because it's not if, but when things deter me, when life happens, when something unexpected comes up. if I don't have a plan of action, you know, I'm going to get derailed. Like it's, it's going to happen. Right.

And then once you kind of determine that, like once you determine the things that you need to do on a daily or weekly basis, then you need to ask yourself, like, how am I going to actually make this happen? How am I going to execute this? How am I going to hold myself accountable to this? How am I going to overcome? Maybe my most common obstacles or triggers that I'm going to face. This is going to take some time and going to take some thinking and brainstorming. But I'm telling you, you're going to be so better off doing this ahead of time going into the new year, knowing what are the most common obstacles or triggers or things that you might face and having a solution to them. Right?

It's one thing to have a goal and know what you need to do to reach that goal. It's a whole other layer and a whole other thing, when you figure out what your goal is and how you're going to execute it consistently and then plan that into your daily or weekly schedule.

So. In 2023. When you're setting goals, I want you to make sure that you're not only creating a plan of action, but a plan of action for carrying out your plan of action.

Are you following? Not only do I want you to know the habits that you need to stick to, but also have a plan for actually sticking to those habits. For example, you know, you need to work out, you know, 3 to 5 times a week to reach your goal. But how are you going to make that happen? How are you going to ensure that you stay disciplined and don't let the obstacles get in the way? Or maybe you want to set a goal of cooking more at home and nourishing your body with foods that bless it instead of just going out to eat three or four times a week. How are you going to actually make that happen? What are you going to have in place to help you avoid the nights that you're feeling tired or just kind of want to swing by the drive thru or whatever the trigger is or obstacle is for you. You have to ask yourself, like, how are you going to overcome the obstacles that stand in the way between executing your habits and reaching your goals?

So there you have it. That's the one reason why you didn't reach your goals in 2022. Maybe you didn't have a plan of action or plan on the plan of action to follow through with it. Remember, it's one thing to have a plan. It's a whole other thing to execute that plan.
